The culture kayak - A historical and scenic experience
When you arrive at Kulturkajakken, our kayak instructor welcomes you and sets expectations for the day's trip. This ensures that everyone is safe and ready for the adventure ahead. After an introduction, you will be guided in changing into the correct kayak clothing, which ensures comfort and safety throughout the trip. We also ensure that both new and experienced kayakers become familiar with the necessary equipment, and each participant is assigned the kayak that best suits their size and experience.
Before we put the kayaks in the water, the instructor will give a short instruction on how to steer and maneuver the kayak safely. When everyone feels safe, we begin the trip along the coast. Along the way, the instructor shares engaging stories about Fredericia's war history, the local challenges with climate change and the initiatives that have been put in place to protect the Little Belt. These stories range widely from Denmark's historical importance to the importance of the marine environment.
In the middle of the trip, we take a break at the beach, where a historian from Museum Fredericia will offer an in-depth story about the area, while you enjoy a cup of coffee and biscuits and cake. This gives both the opportunity to stretch your legs and to learn even more about the area's rich history.
After the break, we continue the trip, where there will be plenty of opportunity to practice techniques, observe the local wildlife, and simply enjoy the beautiful nature. The tour ends back at the starting point, where everyone participates in a joint clean-up. We round off with a "check out round", where there is an opportunity to share experiences and give feedback, which ensures a well-rounded and memorable experience for everyone.
The instructor
Sune Lund Østergaard
grew up in Fredericia and knows the history of the city, which has followed him since he was a child, where his father has always taken him when the 6th of July celebrations have been relevant.
Nature has always been a part of him and something close to him. He ensured that his company was admitted as the first business partner in the Lillebælt Nature Park, where he, among other things, are involved in projects to promote nature and provide more opportunities to use nature in our local area.
He is currently working on a project dealing with regenerative tourism. Which is where you, as a tourist, no longer use nature's resources, but you actually help to give something back.
He is trained in carpentry, a leader in the defense with a deployment to Afghanistan, an outdoor adventurer and until now, when he started the company Get Outdoor 6 years ago, the goal is clear and he wants to get more people out into nature, because then there are also more who will look after it.
He is looking forward to welcoming you on the beach and hopefully giving you a really good experience!
